Why SoLo?

The point is clear: Nothing is working. But maybe it’s because we’ve become too complacent with our expectations. Maybe the dieting rules are meant to be broken. Or, wait for it…Maybe it’s the rules that are broken. In a world of trendy diets, outrageous cleanses, and unreasonable fasts, it’s time to get real with ourselves.

Know what you’re eating, but not to the point where it’s nearly alive or still covered in dirt. After all, eating well doesn’t have to mean compromising our standards. And it certainly doesn’t mean starving or eating tasteless meals.

Because let’s face it, cheeseburgers are awesome. Add fries and it’s pure bliss. We’d be kidding ourselves to think we’re giving those up any time soon. If you do, amazing. Good for you; you win at life. If not, you’re human. Luckily, we’ve always got your back.

Not in the call-us-and-we’ll-help-you-move-your-furniture-on-a-Saturday-afternoon kind of way. And definitely not in the 5am-ride-to-the-airport way, but we’re here when it comes to helping you finally drop those extra pounds. We’ve got you when all those other diets fail. You see, we don’t mess around with trying to look cool. We spent the majority of freshman year doing that.

We’re here to make staying healthy a priority, without the bells and whistles. We know some days you’ll have a bar with a diet soda while sitting on the couch. Some days you’ll have a bar on the way to the gym. And some days you’ll skip the bar for a slice of pizza. The point is, we’ve at least made it easy for you to eat healthy snacks thanks to our ridiculously delicious low glycemic flavors.

Curb the cravings.

You deserve to be energized for longer than 30 minutes at a time. You’re not a parking meter or sketchy carnival ride. At SoLo, we’re changing the way we think about food. Despite what the diet industry has been spewing, it’s not all about avoiding carbs (gasp). It’s about knowing how nutrients work together, how they make us feel and how they affect our blood sugar. By focusing on good fats, protein and the right kind of carbs, we bring you great-tasting, truly satisfying food that keeps you from wandering back to the vending machine for another snack every 30 minutes.

For decades, fat and carbs have been given a bad rap. The diet industry has preached that if you cut out fats or carbs, your life is going to be perfect, and we’ve believed them. Has life been perfect? Maybe for a little while, but it didn’t last very long (We know. We’ve been there).

That’s because diets don’t solve the bigger picture.

Diets focus on food, not function. To us, ‘diet’ is one of those four-letter words that land a dollar in the swear jar. At SoLo, we’re not interested in ‘lose weight fast’ schemes because they’re exactly
that–schemes.

After all, there has to be a better way, right? Right, and it’s called the low glycemic index (GI) lifestyle. Instead of focusing on specific foods or nutrients, we focus on how our food makes us feel, which allows us to enjoy food that actually tastes good and helps us feel full and energized.

And here’s what fad diets don’t want you to know:

Living low GI helps us regulate our blood sugar, which is key to successful weight management.

Welcome to the low glycemic index lifestyle, and get used to that feeling of, where has this been all my life?
